Earth Day - April 22

Did you know that over 80% of all water used in the United States goes towards raising livestock and the crops that feed them? But there's more: not only is factory farming the biggest water user - it is the biggest water polluter. Animal waste and feed croplands dump more pollutants into our waterways than all other human activities combined. Moreover, meat production is chiefly responsible for the loss of North American forest cover. Caring people everywhere will be celebrating Earth Day on and around April 22 by drawing the connection between factory farming and environmental degradation. You can make a difference by encouraging others to go veg. (To request an Earth Day Pack email info@farmusa.org) Source

I also thought factory-farming was one of the biggest producers of greenhouse gasses. (All that stinky cow poop, coupled with hacking down tons of trees to make space for grazing.) Anyone care to verify this with some reputable source??

Hi Sarah! Thanks for the link and for coming by -- I'll be over to say hi sometime soon.

Hi Catherine! You're probably right. Diet For A New America has a bunch of those facts, but that was 1987 data.

ps -- my word verification is: bsxpooho
Isn't that funny?!
