Midweek Munchies

This week, I grabbed my canvas shopping bag, handed it to my husband, and he went to the Co-op for some midweek munchies...to suprise me with his choices! We are stocked up in the kitchen, so this was a true munchies run.

He picked out:
1. Garlic Primavera Risotto
2. Roasted Sweet Red Pepper Hummus
3. Ezekiel 4:9 pocket bread
4. Polenta Chips (these are good... & see, he still has polenta on the brain :)
5. Delightfully Turkish Organic Dried Figs (these were the best treat of all...major yum!)

...and hummus!I love hummus. You have italian tastes in this midweek munchies! When I was a child my grandma used to cook polenta in an old copper pot, which is called "cagliere",on a wood-burning stove ... My step-father is great at cooking risotto with mushrooms, or with red chicory and pumpkin, but with a change in the original recipe since risotto is made with butter, cheese and sometimes bechamel, which i don't like!

We get that same kind of pita pockets, but for some reason, WFM didn't have it this week.
I think it's cool that you let your dh do the munchies run. Mine used to do the grocery shopping in our pre-veggie days, but he would always end up with more junk foods than anything else. I know if he'd do the food shopping these days I'll freak out!!

Hi Luna! Can you tell we LOVE Italian food...or at least our version of it. LOL! Would you care to part with your recipe? Please...all we are working with here in the risotto department is boxed!
Did your husband like the root veggies? I'm so excited that you made them! :o)

Hi Kaivegan! Art is much quicker in the grocery store, and he doesn't mind doing it. I like to shop when I don't have time constraints.

oh, Jess...You gotta try the polenta chips! I glanced their web site, and it looks like they have many "gourmet" type chips to try. :o)
