Soup's On!
It has been chilly the past couple weeks - the perfect weather for soup. The savory smell infiltrates the house, the warmth of the stove comforts, and the steaming soup to eat on a rainy day. Soup in no particular order, family rated with stars (3 stars=a favorite, 2 stars=OK, 1 star=won't make again).'Miso-Butternut Squash Soup with soba noodles and purple kale' Vegetarian Soups for All Seasons Bountiful Vegan by Nava Atlas **

Look what I received in the mail yesterday! It is such a cute cookbook, which Jennifer signed to my daughters. A sticker was enclosed, which I'll probably use as a bookmark. The Table of Contents include, Quick & Easy, Rise & Shine, Ready & Waiting, Lunch Box Adventure, Special Occasions, and much more. There's a photo section in the middle, but just go to The Vegan Lunch Box to see it all.

Oh my gosh I am almost freaking out by all of this soup wonderfulness! I saw Extraveganza at the book store a couple days ago, having never heard of it - do you recommend?
Lucky girl you got your vegan lunch box cookbook.. I am anxiously awaiting mine!
We have been doing a lot of soups too-I must say that sweet pepper coconut corn chowder looks sooo yummy
Oh, I need to get Nava's soup book!! I don't have it yet, but these look great. Thanks for rating them too. I love seeing the verdicts!
Your new lunchbox cookbook is great!!!!!!! I'd love to get it. I just clicked on that link to her site, and scrolled down to see her "mummy calzone." I was mesmerized! I want to make those! LOL! I hope you enjoy your new book. I know your girls will! (and Jolie too, if anything happens to fall on the floor!) Lol!
Vicki, we are on the same soup wavelength. Even though I made the tofu noodle soup as my first soup from Nava's soup book, I really wanted to make the African Peanut Quinoa one as well as the Moroccan Chickpea one. They look wonderful so thanks for sharing the photos.
I got my Lunch Box book in the mail too. I think it's super cute and way bigger/longer than I thought.
Love all these soups (did you freeze any?!).
Yeah, what a perfect time for a post about soup. Take out the peas and I bet I'd love the Miso-Butternut Squahs Soup. It looks tasty. The Lentil soup looks nice and thick. The corn chowder looks divine!!! Rob wants me to try that recipe soon. It's funny you should ask if I've tried a recipe, I bought all the fixings to make the Thai noodle salad yesterday. I'm going to make it for dinner tonight. I've already made quite a long list of recipes I want to try from that cookbook. Oh cool, there's a vegan lunch box book. I didn't even know it was out yet. Thanks for the heads up :)
Wow, soupstravaganza! They all look so good. Do you tend to make your soups in the crockpot or the stovetop? I don't have too much crocktop experience yet.
And the vegan lunchbox- awesome! I'm hoping to get it as a gift sometime soon... tell us if you make anything from it!
Ok, all the soups look really good but OMG - the Sweet Pepper Coconut Corn Chowder is screaming my name! It looks absolutely divine. I must get this book and try this soup.
Very good idea. Similar to a discussion I saw on this Mexico Travel.
Ugh, blogger just ate my comment!
I love soup so much! :)
I have yet to make any of the soups from Nava's book and I've had it for weeks! I should hop to it.
Please let us know how the Vegan Lunch Box book is! I want it, but I can't buy myself anything else until after the holidays...
That's a lot of soup!
Hey! I'm really loving soup lately (obviously you are too) but surveying what I've got here.. it looks like I could make none of those haha. I do have chickpeas.. and split peas.. which kind of look like lentils....
I don't know which soup I'd choose ! LOL
They all look delish to me :)
Wow--that's a lot of soup. Isn't Nava's book great?
I can't wait to get the Vegan Lunch box...
i'm with everyone else. sitting in amazement of how much soup that is!
Teddy
Wow! Look at all those soups! I think I need to get that Nava Atlas soup cook book too. Love the vegan lunch box book... might pick it up once my daughter starts staying at school for lunches.
hi Jess: I don't have Extraveganza, I just tried a recipe from it in Veg News. If all the recipes are like the sweet pepper soup, I'd say GET IT!

hi emmy: i can't wait to hear how the Thai noodle salad is and how you like the cookbook overall.
hi bazu: i tend to be a stovetop soup cook, but Fresh from the VEgetarian Slow Cooker has some soups that are on my list.
hi vivacious vegan: you can try the corn chowder if you have a OCT. issue of Veg News -- the cookbook is featured there and has the recipe.
hi nikki: i'll let you know!
hi tania: i don't know how you cook all your wonderful food at college!
hi urban: can't wait to see what you cook up from Vegan Lunch Box!
hi melissa: i don't have any lunches to pack right now, either -- i will in couple years, and i'll be prepared!
i'm off to visit you guys and see what's up with you.
I love your soups! Today I made a morrocan stew similar to that one with chick peas, sweet potatoes, raisins, peanut butter etc...and I serve it on couscous.
I am not as vegetarian as you - just a baby vegetarian - pesco veg.
I love your blog though!
I loved to see your soups! Went to the library and got the Nava Atlas book to take a look, great book, I love it!
I also bought the Vegan Lunch Box, it is the cutest and greatest books ever, and will be very handy, as I have an almost 5 year-old that is starting kindergarten next year!
Thanks for the soup reviews! I love soup and now is definitely the best weather for them!
