Crispi Squares

It was time for something sweet, so I thumbed through Vive le Vegan! and came up with these delectable treats! I followed Dreena's recipe, except I did not use hemp seed nuts or cranberries. Art does not like dried fruit to mingle with his chocolate and I'm yet to find some hemp seed nuts in my area. Dreena says to stir the chocolate chips in with the rest quickly so they don't melt too much. You gotta be lightning quick with this, and you can see that my chips melted completely. We're cool with that - we love chocolate no matter what! Another keeper recipe.

Cranberries and chocolate sound so good together... I know you wrote Art doesn't like it, but do *you* like that combo? What kind of nuts are in this, Vicki?

Why don't you grind the dried fruits up with the nuts and make a mixture and then toss it all in and see if Art never knows...

Hey Vicki! Another reason I need to buy that cookbook. I miss Rice Krispie Treats.

Say, I was going to email you some recipes to test today . . . but I don't have your email address! Will you email me? (Link off of my profile page.) Thanks!

hi kleopatra: i like fruit & chocolate, but with things like strawberries dipped, or covered cherries, or bananas dipped (visit eatpeace for a visual!) but with a recipe like this i rather leave the fruit out -- too many other flavors. these have almonds.

you're a sneaky one, leslie! art likes fruit & probably gets enough in his diet without tricking him -- but it'd be fun to know if his taste buds could detect it! :o)

hi catherine: this is the most used/best loved cookbook i've ever had. i'll be over today to email you --- yeahhh, recipes! thanks in advance.

Nifty!

Thanks for the comment on the curry! I agree - the coconut milk ROCKS! I wish I would have tried it much earlier than just last year.

These are adorable! I love that it's Dreena's original recipe too~

Thanks for stopping by my blog recently - it was very sweet! I've been cooking here and there, the heat knocked me out, but I had some friends over this weekend and corn chowder had me back on my um, cooking feet! Seriously, I have a bunch of photos up : ) Oh yeah - my boyfriend & I strolled through Laurelhurst tonight!

I would like the combination of cranberries and white chocolate, but the guys in my family wouldn't either.
