On The Road!
Finally, the day came for us to begin our journey to the Oregon Coast. The car was packed with everything we'd need.....and then some! Each person had their own backpack with clothes. The girls shared two other bags, one for diapers and the other for toys. Jolie (our good dog) had her own bag with food, bowl, leash, treats, and poop bags. We had a cooler with cold beverages and perishables, and another dry food bag. We also brought Abi's portable crib, and you can see her blue booster seat above the Dora The Explorer pillow. We were ready!
The first notable stop is Multnomah Falls. I have been here and all along the Oregon Coast countless times. Each and everytime, the falls are as spectacular as the first visit. It is a breath taking sight! We were lucky enough to visit during the week so there weren't any crowds and we didn't bump any elbows.
Plummeting 620 feet from it's origins on Larch Mountian, Multnomah Falls is the second highest year-round waterfall in the nation. You can hike all the way above the highest fall through lush green foilage, which I've done one time. Or, you can walk to the bridge you see above the lower waterfall. This time, we stayed on the lower level and enjoyed the sound of rushing water, the light water spray, and the visual delight.
"Daddy, I'll carry you!" is Liv's cute way of hitching a ride on Dad's shoulders. We fed Jolie in the parking lot, regrouped, and continued on to our destination.
