Where Have I Been?

On the road...

40 Watt Hype released their album 'Strong Feet on the Concrete' and during the record release tour, played at BSU -- full-circle -- right in the city where the album was produced. We arrived at the campus via bicycles & trailer to see the band rockin' the students. After that show, they were headed back to California for shows in Venice, San Diego, & Fresno. We decided to become groupies and follow along -- they put on an amazing show.

Here's the Vegetarian Family's 'Strong Feet on the Concrete.' We're all sandy right after enjoying the ocean at 19th street Newport Beach. It's right by the pier and there are always sand dollars poking through the sand if you look carefully.

We also visited 'Centennial Farm' at the Orange County Fairgrounds. This is a must stop for kids in Costa Mesa. It has all kinds of farm animals that appear healthy and happy - like these 2 day old piglets.

It also has a well kept garden area, and you can buy their fresh veggies for a donation. This is a photo from the herb section - the stevia plant in the lower, left of the photo caught my eye because of it's popularity with several bloggers. There are rows and rows of all kinds of vegetables each with a marker featuring information and nutrition facts of each plant. It is a picture perfect farm complete with a red barn and windmill -- worth a visit if you're in the area.

That's such a cute picture of your daughter in that lego-style car. Those piglets are just adorable, and only 2 days old..wow! That's really cool you can buy fresh veggies for a donation. It looks like they had quite a selection of herbs in their garden.

Those piglets look so happy; I wish all pigs would have the opportunity, be it not for humans, to enjoy love and nurturing from a mother-child relationship as opposed to the stress of a factory farm. Cherie

How fun - looks like you're still able to enjoy summer. It's getting cold up here in Minnesota. Sad - I still had spring cleaning on my to-do list.

For some reason, I can't really read most of your post - the flowers are going across the whole page. Argh.

Love the Strong Feet photo. Touring can be fun (when it's by choice!) and it looks like you had fun for the whole family. This is a great post and I love seeing those piglets... too cute.

My 6yo is eyeing that Lego Car :)

Love the piglets !
And that Strong Feet photo :) Can't help to think of the Proudfeet family from LOTR
You could almost be mistaken for a family of closely shaven hobbits
;-) LOL
Really cool !

Hey Vicki,

thanks for the cute post, which was a nostalgic one for me. Like Crystal, I just moved across the country from Orange County, and sometimes (like when the weather starts cooling down...) I miss it like crazy! I never did go to the fair when I was there, though...

hi emmy: we also went to lego land while in so. cal. -- liv loved driving the car!

hi cherie: i feel the same way -- it's so difficult to see the animal families nurturing eachother and know what really happens to most farm animals. it's so sad.
