Where Have I Been?

On the road...

40 Watt Hype released their album 'Strong Feet on the Concrete' and during the record release tour, played at BSU -- full-circle -- right in the city where the album was produced. We arrived at the campus via bicycles & trailer to see the band rockin' the students. After that show, they were headed back to California for shows in Venice, San Diego, & Fresno. We decided to become groupies and follow along -- they put on an amazing show.

Here's the Vegetarian Family's 'Strong Feet on the Concrete.' We're all sandy right after enjoying the ocean at 19th street Newport Beach. It's right by the pier and there are always sand dollars poking through the sand if you look carefully.

We also visited 'Centennial Farm' at the Orange County Fairgrounds. This is a must stop for kids in Costa Mesa. It has all kinds of farm animals that appear healthy and happy - like these 2 day old piglets.

It also has a well kept garden area, and you can buy their fresh veggies for a donation. This is a photo from the herb section - the stevia plant in the lower, left of the photo caught my eye because of it's popularity with several bloggers. There are rows and rows of all kinds of vegetables each with a marker featuring information and nutrition facts of each plant. It is a picture perfect farm complete with a red barn and windmill -- worth a visit if you're in the area.

That's such a cute picture of your daughter in that lego-style car. Those piglets are just adorable, and only 2 days old..wow! That's really cool you can buy fresh veggies for a donation. It looks like they had quite a selection of herbs in their garden.

Those piglets look so happy; I wish all pigs would have the opportunity, be it not for humans, to enjoy love and nurturing from a mother-child relationship as opposed to the stress of a factory farm. Cherie

How fun - looks like you're still able to enjoy summer. It's getting cold up here in Minnesota. Sad - I still had spring cleaning on my to-do list.

For some reason, I can't really read most of your post - the flowers are going across the whole page. Argh.

You’ve been busy. Those little piggies are so cute! I’ve never heard of 40 Watt Hype but they sound fun! Looks like they’ll be at the Temple Bar on Oct. 11, too bad I’ll be out of town. I’ll be sure to tell my friend about it, we all love to go see live music.

I love that herb garden picture, it’s great that they had info available about all the different plants.

And yes, your whole page seems to be overrun with pansies! Looks like you’re having a bit of a template issue, I had to highlight the text so I could read it.

Did you guys plan to be groupies or did you decide do go at the last minute? That's so cool and crazy fun. I just left Orange County to move to Tennessee and I've been missing it a lot lately (it's been 7 months). Your post kind of made me a little more homesick. I've vaguely heard of 40 Watt Hype but don't have any of their music. I'm going to check them out right now.

Love the Strong Feet photo. Touring can be fun (when it's by choice!) and it looks like you had fun for the whole family. This is a great post and I love seeing those piglets... too cute.

That is so cool. What a great gathering of precious pigs at that Centennial Farm, and how cool you saw stevia in its most natural state. Neat!

Such cute feet, by the way. Not an easy feat! Love lookin' for (and finding!) sand dollars. Really nice that you got to do so much on your trip!

I love 40 Watt Hype... still listen to the CD you gave me!!

My 6yo is eyeing that Lego Car :)

Love the piglets !
And that Strong Feet photo :) Can't help to think of the Proudfeet family from LOTR
You could almost be mistaken for a family of closely shaven hobbits
;-) LOL
Really cool !

Hey Vicki,

thanks for the cute post, which was a nostalgic one for me. Like Crystal, I just moved across the country from Orange County, and sometimes (like when the weather starts cooling down...) I miss it like crazy! I never did go to the fair when I was there, though...

hi emmy: we also went to lego land while in so. cal. -- liv loved driving the car!

hi cherie: i feel the same way -- it's so difficult to see the animal families nurturing eachother and know what really happens to most farm animals. it's so sad.

hi pure zuke: i hope you do check out the band!

hi crystal: bummer about the pansies -- hope it works itself out! arrrgh.

hi shannon: they play in la lots - i hope you can check them out sometime. we saw them at "Good Hurt" in Venice...

hi vivacious vegan: it was pretty much spur of the moment -- we're wacky that way. and i hope you do check out the band. i lived in so. cal. for 13 years & miss soo many things about it -- it's great to go back and visit, which also helps me appreciate idaho more.

hi kleo: nice play on words -- you do have a way with them!! and i'm glad you're digging the cd -- it was all produced by Art here.

hi jenny: thanks for your nice comment & visit - hope to see you again!

hi melody: TOTALLY agree -- i just don't get it.

hi Mikaela: the whole beta thing is perplexing to me! i can't switch over -- and those who have switched don't seem to be happy....

hi bazu: thanks for coming by. i know what you mean -- ca has a lot to offer! i like to cooler weather here though. for me, the best weather in ca is winter.
